No matter how many tablets are unveiled by other manufacturers, the fact will always remain that Apple got there first with its iPad. The thing, though, is that since it got to the market first, other manufacturers have had more time to see what it does not have, and make sure that they come up with devices that offer what the iPad cannot.
So what does Apple need to do to stay ahead? A feature on PC World has a few ideas.
The first is to come up with an iPad that is equipped with cameras. PC World’s Tony Bradley accurately points out that while users do not really intend to use the iPad for serious photography stuff, the camera is now practically a must-have in any device. A front camera for video conferencing and the standard back camera will certainly be a good addition to the iPad.
The iPad will also do good with having FaceTime, something that Apple already has on the iPhone 4 as well as on the iPod Touch 4. iPad users will undoubtedly love to have the same capability on their device, although most iPad users probably have other Apple devices as well.
Memory-wise, it may be useful to give the iPad a bit of a boost; while it is doing ok with just 256MB of RAM, this will seem too small when compared to the 512MB RAM of the Samsung Galaxy Tab, and the 1GB RAM that the BlackBerry Playbook will have.
Lastly, since these devices are all about being mobile and convenient, Apple might want to do something about the iPad’s current weight of a pound and a half.

La Couronne - means ‘the crown’ in French.
Designed by Paula Arntzen for Artecnica, La Couronne is made from two tiers of thing copper foil metal. Light reflects through the center to create a ‘burst of color and dimension.’ The rounded shape of La Couronne is made to resemble chandeliers that were hung on palace ceilings.

A term in a feature on PC World aptly describes what some people may feel towards the many new devices that are rained down upon us by manufacturers: “Gadget Lust”. What is it, and how do you refrain from falling for it?
When a new device is about to make its grand debut, there is definitely a whole lot of hype that is attached to it. There are a few leaks here and there, just enough to get people excited about what it looks like, how it might feel in one’s hand, and what new conveniences one can get to enjoy while using it. Before long, one might be dreaming about how it would feel to actually own the gadget, and start counting the days until it will finally arrive. The alarm is set for an unusually early hour, in an effort to be the first in line to pick it up. But when it’s all unwrapped and ready to use, the excitement wanes, and it will only come back when the next new toy comes around.
If there’s a drawer full of perfectly usable gadgets in your bureau that’s just sitting there because there is a new device on the market, then you just might have been afflicted with “gadget lust”. But what do you do? For us, it will take self-control and willpower – and not much else. We’re guessing cutting your credit card in half will also help.
